Governor Rick Perry's most recent ad opens with him saying "I'm not ashamed to admit that I am a christian, but you don't need to be in the pew every sunday to know there's something wrong with this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate christmas or pray in school." The ignorance and stupidity of this quote actually amazes me. I personally do not understand the connection he is trying to make between the seperation of the church and state and gays serving in the military. The Don't Ask Don't Tell act has been repealed since September 20, 2011, but Perry seems to view this as "a war on religion". Gays fighing in the military does not do anything to disturb or attack any religion. Nothing has changed in the military since September, because all that happened was that people gained the rights they were owed for a long time.
But don't worry! Perry assures us that if elected president he will save us all, and "end Obama's war on religion and fight against liberal attacks on our religious herritage." HAHA. I wonder if Perry realizes that if we allow prayer in schools for christians, we will also need allow worship for all other religions as well. And i have a sneaky suspicion that he would not approve of all religions being able to worship, so there you go, another one of the million flaws in his little plan to save our country.
This ad was beyond disrespectful, and although it was intended to win over the hard-right conservatives, I am sure many others saw this video, and he just lost any chance he had at the presidency.
