Donald Trump announced that he has decided not to moderate the G.O.P. debate on December 27th, because only two candidates agreed to attend, Newt Gringrich and Rick Santorum. Now instead of moderating the debate, Trump has announced that if he is not satisfied with a Republican Candidate that he will run as an independant. " It is very important to me that the right Republican candidate be chosen to defeat the failed and very destructive Obama administration, but if that Republican, in my opinion, is not the right candidate, I am not willing to give up my right to run as an independent candidate." Trump has not announced his candidacy yet, "I must leave all of my options open because, above all else, we must make America great again". I think this is all a little ridiculous, Donald Trump: President of the United States? It all sounds like a big joke to me. But apparently this is part of the reason the other candidates decided to drop out of the December 27th debate. Although I have heard some ridiculous things come out of every candidates mouth, I would think it a very scary thought for Donald Trump to be the president of our country. Honestly he should probably stick to The Apprentice and rocking his comeover.

Is Newt sexist?
After a recent debate it quite obvious that Newt Gingrich does not consider Michele Bachmann to be any type of serious threat to his chance at the presidency. On more than one occasion Gingrich just brushed Bachmann off, clearly not taking her seriously. Bachmann says, "it takes a lot of me to pull the gender card" but she and many other, female and male, feel that Gingrich treats Bachmann differently than he does the other candidates. He speaks to her in a completely different tone than he does the men, and attacks her for things he would never think of attacking the men for.
In the December 15th debate, Gingrich said "Sometimes Congresswoman Bachmann doesn't get her facts very accurate". Bachmann demanded the chance for a rebuttal, “Because this isn’t just once; I think it’s outrageous to continue to say over and over through the debate that I don’t have my facts right. When as a matter of fact, I do. I’m a serious candidate for president of the United States." Then instead of challenging Bachmann, he simply mouthed to the audience, "Don't pay any attention to her; she's a little slow." Gingrich would never take that tone or be so disrespectful to any of the male candidates.
I do not think Gingrich telling the people not to pay attention to her was a good idea in the long run, but so far it has not effected his standings with the women voters.

Holder Speaks up for Voting Rights
After months of silence, the Justice Department is finally speaking out against Republican-dominated legislatures making it harder for generally Democratic-leaning groups to vote. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. promised to use the full weight of his department to ensure that there are no discriminatory electoral laws passed. So far, Republican law makers have enacted discriminatory laws in more that a dozen states. These laws focus primarily on groups such as blacks, hispanics, young people and the poor: groups that most often vote democratic. They have passed strict voter ID laws purposely, knowing that millions of people cannot easily oblige with these laws. This was a deliberate attempt to force American citizens to give up their constitutional right to engage in a democracy.
The fact that this is happening is actually mind boggling to me. I do not see a difference between this and the literacy tests African Americans were given before being able to vote in the time of African American Sufferage. Both were enacted to hold back minorities from their basic right to democracy, which this country prides itself on. I cannot believe that the Republican lawmakers have gotten away with this for so long, as for it to reach thirty-four states. Holders promise to eliminate these new laws are encouraging, but he has a huge job on his hands now, and not a huge amount of time. Holder effectively demolished the phony voter-fraud excuse that Republicans use to "justify" these laws by pointing out that this type of fraud happens so infrequently that there is no reason for these discriminatory laws.

Newt's War on Poor Children
Two weeks ago, not only did Newt Gingrich state that "child labor laws are stupid", but he also implied that poor children should be put to work as janitors in their schools. Just a few days ago in Iowa, Gingrich opened with: “Start with the following two facts: Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works. So they literally have no habit of showing up on Monday. They have no habit of staying all day. They have no habit of ‘I do this and you give me cash’ unless it’s illegal.” This statement is an absolutley cruel generalization attacking Americas helpless children. It is actually sick, that he believes such a ridiculous statement.
Not only is this statement politically incorrect, but there is no actual factual evidence behind this. Three out of four poor adults work atleast a part time job, but two out of four have a full time job. But yet according to Gingrich, 'Poor children have nobody around them who works'. Also Gingrich attempts to say that the lack of money universally correlates to a lack of morals. But yet, evidence shows that even with the current economic state of the U.S., the crime rate (especially among juveniles) has decreased significantly within the last years.
The only fact that Gingrich has proved in all of this is that, nothing he has said on this issue actually is fact. His statements about children in poverty are completley flawed, so although he likes to toss around the word fact freely, I really hope that Americans take the time to realize the bogus in his claims.

Rick Perry: Pure Ignorance
Governor Rick Perry's most recent ad opens with him saying "I'm not ashamed to admit that I am a christian, but you don't need to be in the pew every sunday to know there's something wrong with this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate christmas or pray in school." The ignorance and stupidity of this quote actually amazes me. I personally do not understand the connection he is trying to make between the seperation of the church and state and gays serving in the military. The Don't Ask Don't Tell act has been repealed since September 20, 2011, but Perry seems to view this as "a war on religion". Gays fighing in the military does not do anything to disturb or attack any religion. Nothing has changed in the military since September, because all that happened was that people gained the rights they were owed for a long time.

But don't worry! Perry assures us that if elected president he will save us all, and "end Obama's war on religion and fight against liberal attacks on our religious herritage." HAHA. I wonder if Perry realizes that if we allow prayer in schools for christians, we will also need allow worship for all other religions as well. And i have a sneaky suspicion that he would not approve of all religions being able to worship, so there you go, another one of the million flaws in his little plan to save our country.
This ad was beyond disrespectful, and although it was intended to win over the hard-right conservatives, I am sure many others saw this video, and he just lost any chance he had at the presidency.
